Mariam was born in Boston but lived most of her life in Portland, OR. She graduated from Carleton college in Minnesota as a biology major, where she first became interested in immunology and cancer biology. Through various research experiences, she cultivated her interests in translational research which she is pursuing in the Allen lab. Outside of the lab, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, and traveling
